(Access to Coverage of Tobacco Treatment In Our Nation)
Shaping Policies | Improving Health
November 15, 2010 - The American Cancer Society’s 2010 Great American Smokeout is coming up on November 18. The Smokeout started in California in 1976 and continues through today to raise awareness of tobacco use harms and push smokers to quit smoking. The event encourages smokers to make long-term plans to stop smoking. The American Cancer Society prides itself as the “official sponsor of birthdays”, as they claim the only good smoke is from more birthday candles. Less smoking means greater life expectancy and more candles—this is the ultimate goal of the ACS and its Great American Smokeout.
