Dutch Anti-Smoking Campaign Uses Cigarettes As Art

April 9, 2012   An innovative anti-smoking campaign from Iris Amsterdam and Stivoro, the Dutch tobacco-control agency, uses cigarettes as art to ask: What are you giving up to smoke? Three prints are pictures composed of thousands of cigarettes, illustrating the Pyramids, a shopping spree and motorcycles. The tagline on the Pyramids poster, made of more than 7,000 cigarettes (about a year’s supply), reads: “You can get a round-the-world ticket for the same price.” The other posters also calculate how much you are spending on smokes annually, in terms of both bank balance and life experiences.
